Mini Paintings

A while back I bought a few small canvas panels, for playing around on.  The large ones are 6"x8" and the small ones are 4"x6". This also makes it easy for framing as these are common photo frame sizes.

I decided to try a few landscape scenes in acrylic and was trying out a few techniques I had picked up from some youtube art lessons.  I'm quite happy with the result and might just do a few more small paintings when I need a break from my commissions.  They also make for lovely gifts.

Studio Space

My Studio Space
I always wanted to be able to say, "I'll be in my studio if you need me", but for most of us, a house with an artist's studio is only a dream.  We live in ordinary homes with not much space for our space hungry crafts and hobbies.

My little duplex does not have much spare space and I usually find myself painting in the kitchen, however this means that I can either cook, clean or paint.  The cooking and painting usually clash.

Just over a month ago I managed to find a lovely little aluminium easel that when folded, fits into a small travel bag.  This brought with it the opportunity to make any small space my studio.  So today, after moving things around in my home, I have created a space that will serve as my studio.  So, if you need me.....I'll be in my studio.

Let's Doodle.

Sometimes it's nice just to pick up a pen and doodle.  I find it very relaxing.  Not all my doodles turn out this nice, I have pages of really terrible doodles, but they are the birthplace of other doodles and paintings.

Doodles are great because they allow your creativity to flow freely without the fear of making mistakes, and then every now and then a doodle turns out quite nice like this one.  This particular one is done with a silver gel pen on black sugar paper.

So remember, keep doodling!
